Maiden Issue on “Global Teacher Education Initiatives, Sustainable Development and Poverty Alleviation Strategies in Africa”
The African Journal of Teacher Education (AJOTE) is soliciting for peer-reviewed articles and research manuscripts dealing with TEACHER EDUCATION in AFRICA and related areas.
AJOTE is a forum for examining all local, national, regional and continental policies, practice, and experiments and research on the training of teachers at all levels and tiers of education in Africa. The training of professional teachers capable of meeting the development needs of Africa in the global and technological age, as well as able to anchor the democratic development and regeneration of its societies has been on the forefront of national educational policies in most African countries since independence. It is a refereed journal, published quarterly, and the primary audience includes international educators, researchers, scholars, teachers, stakeholders, and African governments. All accepted articles will be considered for the 2010 publication of AJOTE’s maiden edition.
Submitted abstracts must reflect the THEME and related fields - this includes: Latest original articles on basic and applied teacher education research (qualitative, quantitative & mixed). Critical reviews, surveys, opinions, commentaries, position papers and essays on teacher education.
Submit abstracts and full manuscripts not later than May 31, 2010. Letters of approval and notification of acceptance of manuscript to the authors will be sent one month after full submission.

· Best Teaching Practices and Collaboration Strategies; Computer Education; ICT Education in Africa
· Case Studies on Poverty Alleviation Strategies via Teacher Education in Africa - technical, life skills, vocational training, etc.
· Administration of Teacher Education; Inclusion Education; Girls and Women Education; Adult Education and Literacy; Teacher Training Curriculum.

All articles and papers must be written in English, original research material not published nor currently under review by other journals; and pass through an external per-review process. Parallel submissions will not be accepted.
