SENSITIVITY TO A WIDESPREAD SOCIAL PROBLEM
Spread Corporation was born out of an appreciation of the declining state of education and physical degradation of many educational institutions in many poor African countries and the negative effect this has had on the potential and possibilities at both the individual and national levels to develop skilled, innovative, informed, and responsible citizens. While emphasis has been laid on the bad shape of things in specific countries, the literature quite fairly indicates that it is a problem shared by most of all African countries.
The development of Spread Corporation into a nonprofit organization from what began as an ad hoc body of people has been shaped by the desire to eradicate local and global poverty and educational disparities.

Our History
It is a development that highlights the readiness of Spread Corporation's founding directors to participate with other peoples with similar concerns and goals as ours. It means that we are ready, together with whatever group of people that are equally concerned with global equity and social justice, to actively mobilize available global and local resources and goodwill to directly engage the problem of lack of access to proper and useful education and recreation in an innovative and self-sustaining way, one community at a time, if necessary.
